Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Counselor to provide guidance and support to our students in their academic pursuits. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing student needs, developing individualized academic plans, and providing ongoing support and mentorship to help students achieve their academic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
•Assess student needs and develop individualized academic plans based on their strengths, interests, and career goals.
•Provide ongoing support and mentorship to students, including regular check-ins, academic coaching, and study skills training.
•Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and address student academic issues, and develop strategies to improve student success.
•Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions on study skills, time management, and academic success strategies.
•Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback and support to ensure academic success.
•Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student interactions and progress, and use this information to inform academic planning and decision-making.
•Stay up-to-date with academic policies, procedures, and requirements, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
•Participate in marketing and outreach activities, including attending recruitment events and promoting academic services to potential students.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counseling, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
•Proven experience in academic counseling, with a deep understanding of student needs, academic policies, and regulations.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess student needs and develop individualized academic plans.
•Knowledge of study skills, time management, and other academic success strategies.
•Familiarity with academic policies and regulations, including requirements for graduation, course sequencing, and academic advising.
•Proficiency in academic advising and student management software.
•Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
